LETTER  SENT TO ARIZONA'S CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES URGING ACTION ON THE EMERGENCY ECONOMIC STABILIZATION ACT:

October 2, 2008

Representative, U.S. House of Representatives

Washington DC 20510

Dear Representative:

I am writing on behalf of the Arizona Investment Council to urge your support of the combined economic stabilization and energy/extenders tax package when the House considers it. AIC believes this bill is critical to the health and well being of our economy.

AIC has 6,000 grassroots members who are investors in Arizona utility companies. These companies rely upon credit markets to sustain their day-to-day operations. If they are unable to access credit markets as a result of the current credit crunch, the provision of essential utility services to customers is jeopardized. Other sectors of the economy are also critically dependent on credit markets for balancing transactions for operations, and tens-of-thousands of jobs will be at risk if market stability is not restored.

AIC also believes passage of the energy/extenders package is essential for continued investment in renewable energy resources and energy efficiency measures. The components of the package are critical for utilities to meet growing energy demand in a carbon-constrained future.

Thank you for your consideration in supporting this package.

Very truly yours,

Gary M. Yaquinto

President
