Brewer Supports Renewables not Regulation

euec2010_rGovernor Jan Brewer recently attended a reception during a trade event sponsored by the United Kingdom Trade & Investment group and the Arizona Investment Council at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix.  At the reception she talked about her support of renewables and the need to include nuclear energy in the mix.

Now she has made the news again supporting renewables over regulation as a means to control greenhouse gas emissions. Howard Fischer of the Capitol Media Services wrote a news article on Governor Brewer's order to review former Gov. Napolitano's regulations to impose "greenhouse gas" emission standards on new vehicles sold in Arizona.

"'With the economy the way it is and the expense of the cars that would need to be purchased by the people of Arizona, it's just not realistic,' she said."  Mr. Fischer went on to say,  "While Brewer is seeking more information on vehicle emission standards, she already has decided Arizona won't participate in a regional 'cap and trade' system for industrial emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases that many scientists say cause global climate change.  There, she said, the conclusion is clear: It will put a financial hardship on Arizonans who will have to pay more for their electricity."  He was referring to the Western Climate Initiative developed by western states governors in recent years in the absence of a national initiative.
